Education Fair

Apr

Our homeschool co-op group has an education fair each year. The kids are able to pick any subject that they have learned about for their projects, so it is not just a science fair.  Here are the projects that Hailey and Hunter made this year:

Our Crafts N Things

Hailey read Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith.  She created this board as a book report to tell all about the book.

Our Crafts N Things

Hunter had been working on a farm unit and created this board about who lives on the farm.  Of course he had a little help with cutting things out, but other than that he did the work on his own.

I am very proud of how hard both of them worked!

Tot School

Hunter is 13.5 months old

We had another fun week of Tot School!  This was our last week of our farm animal theme.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hunter enjoyed listening to the sounds the different animals make.  When it sings the song “Old MacDonald” Hunter sings along and says “E-I-E-I-O!”

Hunter made this cute footprint pig, you can see the original post here.

He also made this handprint chicken, you can see the original post here.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We practiced finding the parts of the face in this book full of baby faces.  Hunter loves this book!

We also practiced body parts using Mr. Potato head.

I used this old container and cut some holes in the lid and then had Hunter put pom poms in the holes.  (I saw this on someone else’s blog and I can not remember where I saw it to give them the credit :-()  He studied it for a while before trying it out.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

It took him several tries to get the pom poms into the holes.

Once he finally did it, he was very proud of himself!
This kept his attention for a long time!!  He did it over and over again and was so happy when he got them into the holes.
(Make sure you keep a close eye on your children when doing this so that they don’t put the pom poms into their mouths.)

Hunter also had a lot of fun playing with bubbles, you can see the original post here.

The cow had a lot of fun in  the bubbles too.

This is not really tot school, but this week my little man cub grew up 🙁  He got his first hair cut.  He definitely looks more like a toddler and less like a baby now.

With a Cluck Cluck Here…

…and a cluck cluck there…

Continuing with the farm animal theme, we made chicken handprints this week.  I saw this idea at Handprint and Footprint Art.

I painted Hunter’s hand white, which he thought was very funny.  I didn’t expect him to do it, but he clapped his hands together when I did it… resulting in 2 painted hands 🙂  Once the paint from his handprint dried I just added the head, feet, etc.  Hailey was using water colors at the table at the same time so I just used her water colors, but I would probably not recommend that as the colors really faded when the paint dried.

Hailey made a handprint chicken too!

I love handprint and footprint art… it’s really not that messy, especially if you’re prepared with some baby wipes right at the table with you.  Plus it’s such a cute keepsake!

This Little Piggy

I saw this adorable footprint pig over at Handprint and Footprint Art and I knew we had to make it for Hunter’s farm animal theme.

I painted Hunter’s foot, which he thought was pretty funny.  I’m sure he wondered what in the world I was doing to him, but he just smiled and laughed about it.  I had baby wipes at the table ready to clean off his foot, and there was no mess at all.  I added the ears and tail afterwards.  Once the footprint was dry I used a fine tip sharpie to add the rest.

Hailey wanted to make one too- so this is her footprint pig.  She did everything herself and did a great job!!

I think these turned out so cute and since they are their precious little footprints they are crafts I will probably keep.
