Our theme this week is transportation and today we made a train.
I taped together 3 sheets of green construction paper. Then Hailey glued on some railroad tracks.
I put numbers on 10 boxcars to go on the train, so Hailey glued those on in order and added wheels.
Then she added coal to each boxcar. The number of pieces of coal had to match the number on the boxcar.
The finished train.
Hailey did a number match from the Transportation Preschool Pack from Homeschool Creations. I laminated the pieces and she used a dry erase marker to circle the correct number.
For the last day of our spring theme we made a cute spring counting book. Rather than show all of the materials in one large group I am going to show you how we made each page of the book. This is something I found in a Mailbox magazine and printed out but you could easily make this yourself.
First Hailey cut the pages apart. She did an excellent job cutting and staying pretty close to the black line!
For the first page- Hailey colored the word blue and then added a little blue square of construction paper to represent the sky. We also glued each page onto a piece of construction paper for durability and to make it easier to staple everything together at the end to make it into a book.
Hailey colored the word yellow and then added two circles of tissue paper for the suns.
After Hailey did some coloring I gave her three pieces of orange felt to make the kites.
Hailey colored everything brown and then added the wiggle eyes.
Hailey glued on some little cotton balls for the bunnies tails.
We added purple pom poms to this page for the flowers after Hailey colored everything purple.
This was Hailey’s favorite page- she put her finger onto a red stamp pad (a “washable” stamp pad). The she stamped her finger onto the paper. I added some lines and dots to make it look like ladybugs.
Hailey glued on 8 pieces of green yarn for this page.
Once everything was dry I added a title page (“It Must Be Spring Time!”) and stapled everything together to make it into a book. It turned out really cute- and it was a fun to tie our spring theme together with colors and counting.
This week we are focusing on the letter N. This is an idea I saw over at No Time for Flashcards- it’s a “Number N.”
Here’s what you’ll need: letter N on construction paper, another piece of construction paper, crayons, glue, and some numbers.
Color the letter N.
After Hailey colored the “N” I cut it out and she glued it onto the other piece of construction paper.
I put the numbers out and we practiced counting.
Then Hailey glued the numbers onto the letter N.
The completed Number N.
Last week we worked on the number 4, the color orange and the triangle. Here are some of our activities:
Hailey painted a number 4- you’ll need construction paper with the number 4 on it, another piece of construction paper in a different color, paint and something to paint with- we used the bow.
Hailey stamping the paint onto the 4.
The finished number 4.
For our orange project:
You’ll need orange tissue paper, a small piece of green tissue paper, glue and a paper plate.
Rip apart the orange tissue paper. (Great for those little muscles in their hands!)
Glue the orange tissue paper on to the plate and add a green stem. Now you have a pumpkin.
For our triangle activity:
You’ll need: paint, a sponge, a paper plate and a piece of paper.
Stamp the triangle sponge onto the paper. Fun, fun!
Stop back tomorrow to see our Noah activities from last week.
Please also take a second to stop by the Velveeta Casserole Challenge and vote for me (I’m the one on the right- Livin’ With Me and the Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole). You can vote once each day and I’d appreciate it so very much if you’d vote for me. Thanks!
