Failed Attempt at Fireworks
Jun
We are taking a little break from our space theme to do some July 4th related activities. So today we tried to make some fireworks. We did a fireworks project last year using paint and it didn’t work because it was too thick. So this year I tried using food coloring- but that didn’t work either.
We used bowls, paper, straw, food coloring and a box.
I put little spots of food coloring on the paper and had Hailey blow into the straw to spread it around. It was supposed to look like fireworks but as you can see it didn’t really work. As a side note- if you try this- I poked 2 little holes near the top of the straw so that she couldn’t suck up the liquid.
Our finished failed attempt at fireworks.
Come back tomorrow to see our fireworks that actually turned out! And if you know how to make this idea work- please advise!!
Letter of the Week- Letter T
Jun
Our letter this week is the letter T and so we made a Train.
Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper, glue, marker, eyes, scissors.
Cut out the train tracks and some shapes for the train.
Glue the tracks onto the paper in the shape of a T.
Add a train on the tracks.
The completed T is for Train. (You’ll notice our train has eyes- Hailey asked to add eyes to the train and when I told her that trains don’t have eyes she said, “Thomas does.” So we added eyes.)
Tot School- Week in Review
Jun
Hailey is 32 months old.
I ran out of time last Sunday and never got my Tot School post done. So this week I’m posting about what we did over the last 2 weeks. For some reason it seems like we haven’t had as much time lately so there aren’t a whole lot of activities. I have links to the activities that I posted about already.
For our letter R we made this Rainbow R.
We were working on an ocean theme and we made this Hermit Crab.
After about 3 weeks of ocean activities we finished up by making this Seahorse.
Hailey loved this game I found in one of my Mailbox magazines. There are several different colored houses that you lay out on the floor and then hide a little mouse under one of the houses. Then we said, “Little mouse, little mouse, are you in the [purple] house?” She loved it!!
We moved on to a theme about outer space and made this Star S for our letter of the week.
We used shaving cream and glue to make a full moon.
Then we made a space shuttle.
Hailey used her Thomas the Train game to make a triangle.

Blastoff!

We are working on a space theme right now, so we made this fun space shuttle.
Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper, glue, glitter, aluminum foil.
Cut out these pieces.
Glue everything on.
Put torn up pieces of aluminum foil on the space shuttle.
Add some dots of glue and put glitter on them for some stars in the sky.
