Letter of the Week- Letter E
Apr
Our Letter last week was E. Here are some of things we did:
Hailey looked through the various letter E crafts at No Times for Flashcards and decided she wanted to do the Easter Egg E.
Then we made this super cute E is for Elephant using Hailey’s handprint that I saw at Homeschool Creations.
Here is what we did from RRSP:
Hailey showing off her verse that she colored. She can do such a nice job coloring when she takes her time.
Cutting out her vocabulary words.
Practicing writing E.
Hailey loves using her verse to measure. This weeks verse was short so it was much shorter than her- she always has to check and see if she is taller than her verse. She thought it was great that she couldn’t even get it around her head.
Doing her cut and paste craft. We practiced positional words with this activity.
Other stuff we did:
This was an Easter Egg letter match up that I found at 2 Teaching Mommies. While Hailey did this match up she told me the letter sounds too. There are only a few letters left that she doesn’t know the sounds for, meaning we won’t be doing a letter of the week for much longer.
We made a shape book that is from one of my Mailbox magazines. Hailey colored the pages.
I put it together and then Hailey had to flip the top and bottom to match the shapes. This held her interest for about 10 seconds. Which is not nearly as long as it took me to put it together.
We did a Springtime ABC file folder using printables from 1+1+1=1.
The inside of the folder- Hailey had to match the upper and lowercase letters and stick them onto the velcro inside.
The back of the folder, where she can keep all of the letters.
Here is a fill in the number printable from Busy Bee Kids Prinables.
Lastly, I decided to start a journal with Hailey last Monday. I asked her what her favorite thing was that she had done over the weekend. She gave me her answer, I wrote it down and she copied it into her journal. Then she drew a picture to go with it.
She was so proud of her journal. She asked almost everyday to write in it again. She loved it!
Letter of the Week- Letter F
Apr
Last week our letter was F. Here are some of the things we did:
F is for Fox from Totally Tots.
F is for fire from Homeschool Creations.
Hailey colored her letter F vocab words. Then she cut them out and made it into a book.
She circled the letter Ff in this letter hunt story from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Here are some of the thing we did from RRSP:
Hailey colored her verse.
She colored her sight word. (This word was actually from a different week- we are catching up a few sight words.)
Practicing her letter F words- seeing how quietly she could say them.
The cut and glue craft for the verse.
Other stuff:
Doing a page in her sight word book for the word “for.”
Doing some number 9 work in one of her Disney workbooks.
Doing a clothespin number match from Confessions of a Homeschooler. Check out the giveaway going on for the K4 Curriculum at Confessions of a Homeschooler!
A lot of times I can only find things like this for 1-10. So I was really excited that Hailey could get some more practice with 11-20.
Letter of the Week- Letter T
Apr
Last week our letter of the week was T. Here are some of the activities we did:
T is for Tractor from Totally Tots.
Tt is for Tulips using hand and footprints.
Making a T with the playdough mat from Homeschool Creations.
Practicing writing T in her princess workbook.
Do-a-dot letter T from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Here are some of the things we did from the RRSP curriculum:
Hailey showing off her verse that she colored. She memorized her verse and we talked about the 10 commandments this week. Every time Rich or I did something she didn’t like (for example told her to do something she didn’t want to do) she would tell us we were breaking one of God’s rules. Of course we would remind her of the Honor Your Father and Mother commandment.
Cutting out her letter T vocabulary words.
Showing off her sight word she colored (find sight word printables here).
Using power point from RRSP and reading the sentence.
Checking to see if her verse would fit around her head.
Doing her 10 commandments craft.
Other stuff we did:
Finding the word “the” (her sight word) in her Sight Word workbook.
Calling out the shapes during Shape Bingo that I made using DLTK’s custom Bingo cards.
We are using “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons” and Hailey was sounding out the word mat. She made the sound for each letter and then said, “Does that say mat?” She was so proud of herself!! And I was proud too!!
Stop by Confessions of a Homeschooler to check out her giveaway for the Expedition Earth curriculum she created. It’s amazing!!
Letter of the Week- Letter H
Mar
Our letter last week was the letter H- here are some of the things we did:
Hailey made this H is for House from Totally Tots.
She also made this H is for Horse using her handprints.
Hailey loves these letter hunts from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Do-a-Dot letter H page from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Reading her Letter H book- we have vocabulary pictures that she colors, cuts out and then glues to index cards. I turn each one into a letter book.
Definitely one of Hailey’s favorite things to do- play on Starfall.
This has the letters on it we have done so far with RRSP. To review the sounds we sing this song to the tune of “Do You Know the Muffin Man?”
Oh do you see the letter [I]
the letter [I]
the letter [I]
Oh do you see the letter [I]
it says [iii iii iii]
Oh yes I see the letter [I]
the letter [I]
the letter [I]
Oh yes I see the letter [I]
it says [iii iii iii]
Doing a maze in her princess workbook following the letter Hh.
Here are some of the things we did from RRSP:
Showing off her verse that she colored.
Putting her vocabulary words into the baseball card sheet protector.
Practicing writing Hh.
Color by number for her sight word of the week (and).
Cutting
Gluing her shape parents to go along with her verse.
Other:
Practicing writing her sight word in her Sight Words book.
Working on her Clothespin ABCs where she has to match the capital and lowercase letters (using the printable from 1+1+1=1).
Doing an activity for the number 7 (the number of the week) in a Disney book.
Counting How Many (from 1+1+1=1) and putting the clothespin on the correct number.
Our theme last week was horses (at Hailey’s request) and we spent all week doing horse activities and reading horse books. On Saturday we went to a small maple farm and they were giving pony rides.
The perfect way to end our letter H/horse theme week!
