Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom Tree
Jun
One of Hailey’s favorite alphabet books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. So I had this fabulous idea that we would make a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree in Hailey’s playroom and add the letters to the tree as we learn each letter. But then I remembered that I am not very artistic and so I asked my mom for some help.
And look at the cute Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree she made for Hailey! I printed the letters for the tree using a download I found on Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Letter of the Week- Letter H
Apr
Now that I’m working and Hailey is going to preschool it’s really hard to find time to do the crafts and activities that we used to do. But I miss doing it with Hailey, so I am going to really try to get back into doing more activities with her.
Hailey used a bow to paint the letter H.
For our project that will go into Hailey’s ABC book, Hailey made a House.
She glued various shapes onto her paper and made a house.
The finished H is for House.

We are finally done with the alphabet! Woo Hoo! Here is our last project- we made a Z is for Zebra which we saw over at No Time for Flashcards.

Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper, letter Z, a zebra head, some black stripes, glue.

Glue some stripes onto the Z.

Add a head.

The completed Z for Zebra.
When we get back from our vacation we are going to get back into doing a lot more activities- we are going to go through the alphabet again and have more theme related activities. Check back next week for some new activities.
Letter of the Week- Letter Y
Sep
We are almost done with the alphabet!! I can’t believe it has taken us a year to get through 26 letters. That whole moving thing really put us behind. Anyhoo- this week we did the letter Y- and used an idea I saw over at No Time for Flashcards. We made a Y for Yellow.

You’ll need paper, glue and as many yellow things as you can find.

Color the letter Y with crayons, markers and colored pencils.

Glue on lots of yellow things- we used pipe cleaner, pom poms, torn up paper, torn up tissue paper, feathers, and some yellow foam.

Cover up the Y and let the glue dry.

Our completed Y is for Yellow.
