Letter of the Week- Letter M
Nov
Our letter this week is the letter M- and as usual I found a cute idea over at No Time for Flash Cards. We changed it just a bit, but the idea is the same. We made a Mountain M.
Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper (brown, yellow, white, blue, 2 greens), markers, glue and scissors.
Make an M on the green paper.
Give your child some markers (or whatever you want to use) to decorate the M.
While Hailey was coloring her “M” I cut these out from the other construction paper- 2 white pieces for snow on the top of the mountain, some trees and a sun.
Cut the M out and glue it onto the blue construction paper and then add some clouds (cotton), the sun, trees and snow.
Here’s the finished Mountain M.
Letter of the Week- Letter Y
Sep
We made a Y for Yellow.
You’ll need paper, glue and as many yellow things as you can find.
Color the letter Y with crayons, markers and colored pencils.
Glue on lots of yellow things- we used pipe cleaner, pom poms, torn up paper, torn up tissue paper, feathers, and some yellow foam.
Cover up the Y and let the glue dry.
Our completed Y is for Yellow.
Letter of the Week- Letter S
Sep
Our letter this week is the letter S, so I showed Hailey a couple of choices over at No Time for Flash Cards and let her pick what she wanted to do. She decided she wanted to make a Star S.
Here’s what you’ll need: an S, some stars, paint, glitter, glue, something to paint with, bowls and construction paper.
Hailey used the silver glitter paint to paint the black construction paper.
Then I mixed some glitter in with the yellow paint.
Hailey used the yellow glitter paint to paint the stars…
… and the letter S.
After the stars were dry I cut them out.
Hailey glued the S and the stars onto the black construction paper.
Our finished Star S.
Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom Tree
Sep
One of Hailey’s favorite alphabet books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. So I had this fabulous idea that we would make a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree in Hailey’s playroom and add the letters to the tree as we learn each letter. But then I remembered that I am not very artistic and so I asked my mom for some help.
And look at the cute Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree she made for Hailey! I printed the letters for the tree using a download I found on Confessions of a Homeschooler.
