Letter of the Week- Letter J

24
May

We started out our letter by decorating the letter J template.

Then Hailey worked on a project for her alphabet book using an idea I saw at Homeschool Creations.  You’ll need some various shapes and decorating materials.

J is for Jack-in-the-box.

Then Hailey practiced writing the letter J on her wipe off cards.

Letter of the Week- Letter I

For the letter I, Hailey did decorate the usual letter template, but I must have forgotten to take a picture of it.  So, here is a link to it just in case you need to print it- Letter I.

For our alphabet book, Hailey made an igloo that I saw over at Homeschool Creations.  She glued a bunch of rectangles onto her paper and then painted some snow onto the bottom.

Ii is for Igloo.

Mother’s Day Gifts

May

I know that Mother’s Day was last weekend, but I had to share the gifts I got this year for Mother’s Day.  You might able to use some of these ideas for next year.

My mom helped Hailey make this adorable Mother’s Day gift for me.  In case you can’t read the poem, it says:

My Handprint Flower
A piece of me
I give to you,
I used my thumb
and fingers too.
It doesn’t smell,
it doesn’t grow,
I made it because I love
you so.

Then Hailey made this cute butterfly handprint at preschool for me.  The poem says:

My dirty little fingerprints
I’ve left on every wall,
and on the drawers and table tops,
I’ve really marked them all.
But here is one that won’t rub off,
I’m giving it to you,
because I’m thankful for a Mother just like you!

One of the other classes at Hailey’s preschool made these cute Mother’s Day gifts and I liked them, so I had Hailey make these for her grandmothers.  The ladybug prints on the sandal are made with Hailey’s fingerprint.

Letter of the Week Review E-H

May

After every 4 letters that we do I have a review week with Hailey.  One of the activities we do for review is to put together our Alphabet book.  This time we added these pages:

E is for Elephant Puzzle

F is for Fish

G is for Gingerbread

H is for House

I cut out the letters that Hailey decorated when we learned each letter and she glued them on to a piece of paper.

Then we put the pages into a binder that is Hailey’s alphabet book.

Hailey loves reading her alphabet book!

Another thing we do to review the letters is to make a little book for each letter.

Hailey colors several different pictures of words that start with E.

Then she cuts out the pictures.

And then glues them onto an index card.  When it’s dry I turn it into a book- she will eventually have one for every letter of the alphabet.

We also played Alphabet Bingo using the letters that she has learned so far.  This game has been a bit hit!!
