Tot School- Week In Review

Tot School

I actually should have posted this last week because it is a review of what we did the week of Sept 30th.  But we went out of town for Hailey’s 2nd birthday last weekend and I never got around to doing it.  Since we were out of town for part of the week and enjoying the nice weather since we’ve been home we didn’t really do Tot School this week.  So, this review is a week late.  Anyways- onto what we did.

Our letter of the week was the letter C.  You can see everything we did, as well as directions for all of our letter C activities at Letter of the Week- Letter C.

Hailey covered a large C with cotton.

We made chocolate chip cookies.

I formed the cookies into the letter C.  If you do this- I would recommend using sugar cookies instead of chocolate chips cookies.  The dough was really sticky and it was hard to form the cookies into the letter C.

Our theme for the week was apples.  You can see more details and directions for what we did by going to Apples.

We started out with a trip to go apple picking.

Later we made our own apple tree.  Hailey is painting the base for our tree.

The finished apple tree.

Hailey practiced spelling her name on apple shaped cards.

Our number of the week was two, our shape was a circle and our color was red.  See more details and directions for what we did at Fun With Numbers, Shapes and Colors.

Hailey painted the number 2 using a scrub brush.  Later we cut the 2 out, glued it onto a piece of construction paper, added the word “two” and put two stickers on it.  It hangs on our number wall.

Hailey painted some bubble wrap red, then pressed a piece of paper on top of the bubble wrap.

Here is the finished bubble wrap print- some red circles.

For our Bible story we did days 4 and 5 of creation.  You can see all the details by going to Creation Days 4 and 5.

Here is our Day 4 picture- God created the sun, moon and stars.

Hailey is working on the day 5 picture here- God created fish and birds.

I know I haven’t been doing my usual posting.  We’ve been out of town for Hailey’s 2nd birthday.  I am going to take the rest of the week off from posting.  I’ll be back next week on Monday with all of my regular posts.  For now, stop by Livin’ With Me where I am still posting normally.  Also, if you missed my exciting announcement make sure to check out My Lips Are No Longer Sealed.

Creation Days 4 and 5

Last week I taught Hailey about days 4 and 5 of creation.  Here are the pictures we made to add to our Creation Story Wall.

Here’s what you’ll need: paper, glue, moon, stars, sun, yellow crayon, paper that says “Day 4” and paper that says, “God created the sun, moon and stars.”

Hailey glued on the sun and moon.  The stars were stickers that she placed on.  When she was done I helped her draw the beams coming out of the sun with a yellow crayon.

Finished Day 4- God created the sun, moon and stars.

And day 5-

You’ll need: paper, glue, cotton, blue tissue paper, pictures of fish, paint, paper that says “day 5” and paper that says “God created fish and birds.”

Glue the cotton on for clouds and the tissue paper on for water.  Then add some fish to the water.

Use your child’s finger print to make birds.  I showed Hailey how to do a few of them and then she took over.

Finished Day 5- God created fish and birds.

Fun With Numbers, Shapes and Colors

Last week I introduced the number 2 to Hailey.  She very easily picked up on the number 2 while, for some reason, she has a hard time with the number one (maybe because it looks like an i or l???).  Anyways, I had Hailey decorate a number 2 for our number wall.

Here’s what you’ll need: a large number 2 (I used red construction paper, because red is our color this month), another piece of construction paper in a different color, a paper plate, paint, and something fun to paint with.

Hailey used the scrub brush to paint the number two.

Once it was dry, I cut it out and glued it onto a different colored piece of construction paper, added the word “two” and put two stickers on.

Our shape for September was circles and our color was red, so we did this project to reinforce that information.

Here’s what you’ll need: bubble wrap (I have some with both large and small circles), a paper plate, red paint, a foam brush and paper.  I also had some bubble wrap set aside because I knew when we were done painting that Hailey was going to want to pop some.

Paint the bubble wrap using the foam brush.

And now the small bubble wrap.

Press a piece of paper onto the painted bubble wrap.

Our finished large red circle print.
