Spring Counting Book
May 22nd, 2009

For the last day of our spring theme we made a cute spring counting book.  Rather than show all of the materials in one large group I am going to show you how we made each page of the book.  This is something I found in a Mailbox magazine and printed out but you could easily make this yourself.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

First Hailey cut the pages apart.  She did an excellent job cutting and staying pretty close to the black line!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

For the first page- Hailey colored the word blue and then added a little blue square of construction paper to represent the sky.  We also glued each page onto a piece of construction paper for durability and to make it easier to staple everything together at the end to make it into a book.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey colored the word yellow and then added two circles of tissue paper for the suns.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

After Hailey did some coloring I gave her three pieces of orange felt to make the kites.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey colored everything brown and then added the wiggle eyes.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey glued on some little cotton balls for the bunnies tails.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We added purple pom poms to this page for the flowers after Hailey colored everything purple.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

This was Hailey’s favorite page- she put her finger onto a red stamp pad (a “washable” stamp pad).  The she stamped her finger onto the paper.  I added some lines and dots to make it look like ladybugs.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey glued on 8 pieces of green yarn for this page.

Once everything was dry I added a title page (“It Must Be Spring Time!”) and stapled everything together to make it into a book.  It turned out really cute- and it was a fun to tie our spring theme together with colors and counting.

Letter of the Week- Letter N
May 18th, 2009

This week we are focusing on the letter N.  This is an idea I saw over at No Time for Flashcards- it’s a “Number N.”

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: letter N on construction paper, another piece of construction paper, crayons, glue, and some numbers.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Color the letter N.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

After Hailey colored the “N” I cut it out and she glued it onto the other piece of construction paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

I put the numbers out and we practiced counting.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Then Hailey glued the numbers onto the letter N.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

The completed Number N.

Number, Shape and Color Activities
November 5th, 2008

Last week we worked on the number 4, the color orange and the triangle.  Here are some of our activities:

Hailey painted a number 4- you’ll need construction paper with the number 4 on it, another piece of construction paper in a different color, paint and something to paint with- we used the bow.

Hailey stamping the paint onto the 4.

The finished number 4.

For our orange project:

You’ll need orange tissue paper, a small piece of green tissue paper, glue and a paper plate.

Rip apart the orange tissue paper.  (Great for those little muscles in their hands!)

Glue the orange tissue paper on to the plate and add a green stem.  Now you have a pumpkin.

For our triangle activity:

You’ll need: paint, a sponge, a paper plate and a piece of paper.

Stamp the triangle sponge onto the paper.  Fun, fun!

Stop back tomorrow to see our Noah activities from last week.

Please also take a second to stop by the Velveeta Casserole Challenge and vote for me (I’m the one on the right- Livin’ With Me and the Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole). You can vote once each day and I’d appreciate it so very much if you’d vote for me. Thanks!

Orange, Triangles and the Number Three
October 23rd, 2008

Our color this month is orange and our shape is the triangle.  Here is one of the crafts we did to reinforce this information.

Here’s what you’ll need: orange paint, paper plate, something to paint with, black and green paper.

Paint the plate orange.

Cut out some black triangles and a green stem for your child.  Or if your child is older you should have your child do the cutting.

Once the paint is dry, glue on the stem and triangles.  I did not tell Hailey where to put the triangles for this project, I simply suggested where they could go if she wanted them to be eyes, nose, mouth, etc.  She picked where to put them though.

The finished pumpkin.

Our number this month is the number 3 and here is the craft we did last week for that.

Here’s what you’ll need: a large number 3, construction paper in a different color, paint, paper plate, and some fun paint rollers.  (Hailey got those paint rollers for her birthday, aren’t they cute!!)

Put some paint on the roller and paint the number 3.

I cut out the number 3, glued it to the other paper, added the word “Three” and put three stickers on.  I added this to our number wall.
