Several weeks ago Hunter started saying he didn’t want to do school anymore. He is young so we will just back off for a while until he’s ready again. Since then there have been a few times he saw me working on an activity with Hailey and he wanted to do something too. Here are a few of the projects he has made:
Hailey did a unit about Johnny Appleseed and her project is on the left. Hunter wanted to make one too- his is on the right.

Hunter made a boat on Columbus Day.

Working on making a tree.
The finished tree with Hunter’s name.

Reading about pumpkins in his Scholastic magazine.
So there is a little glimpse into what Hunter has been up to. Hopefully he’ll be ready to do “school” again soon.

I am so far behind in my preschool posts that I see the calendar in my pictures with September 16th on it! But we are going to take a little break from preschool for now. Almost every day Hunter says that school is boring and he wants to just play. So, we are going to take a few weeks off from preschool and see if he changes his mind. Last year he loved doing school, but this year he wants to play with his trains all day. So, that is fine and I will wait until he wants to do school again.
But, for now- here are a few of things we did.
Our letter was A.
We read this book and listened to the CD that goes with it. The CD is really cute!
Hunter colored a letter A paper.
We are going to make an alphabet book full of crafts, with one for each letter. For A, we made A is for Apple.
We added the letter A to our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree. Then Hunter swatted the letter A.
Hunter has a little book that is the same as the big book of The Adventures of Abby Alligator. He colored his copy of the book.
Bible:
Our Bible story was about Adam and Eve, so I used the printables I found here. I lamintated them and put magnets on the back so we can use them on our white board.
Math and Manipulatives:
Hunter doing his fishing puzzle.
Trying out a new manipulative- Wedgits.
We did math using Farmland math and Hunter really enjoys it!
Hopefully our preschool posts will be back soon. For now, be sure to stop back to see the crafts we are planning to do and see what Hailey is busy doing in 3rd grade.

We had a fun filled week in preschool… although this post is a few weeks old because I am having a hard time fitting blogging into everything else that I have going on right now. Anyway, here are some of the things Hunter did in preschool:
We are using Little Hands to Heaven from Heart of Dakota and our letter for the week was A.
Hunter looking at the A page in Big Thoughts for Little People.
Gluing some Apple Jacks onto the letter A.
Woody took a little walk on the letter A that I put on the floor.
Our Bible Story was Adam and Eve:
We talked about how God made everything. We went into a dark room and I said “Let there be light” and then turned the light on.
We drew some pictures using white crayon.
Then Hunter painted over the white crayon with water colors.
His picture showed how things appeared from nothing.
We also talked about the serpent and how he deceived Eve. Hunter ran back and forth jumping over the snake.
Math:
Practicing counting
We are making a counting book and for our first page we added 1 tree.
I drew three circles on a page and then Hunter colored in the circles with the matching color. Then he sorted some pegs onto the correct circles.
Manipulatives:
Hunter checking out some dinosaurs
His sensory bin for the week
Woody came to school one day 🙂

Preschool Week in Review
Sep
Last week we started our new school year and Hunter started preschool.
On our first day of school, we went to our homeschool co-op. Hunter was all ready with his book bag and lunchbox.
All ready- and very excited to go!
Since he won’t be 3 until December he is actually still in the nursery at co-op, but we are going to do preschool at home because he is very ready.
Harper went to co-op with us too- she wasn’t sure what to think.
The next day we had our first day of school at home.
We only had two days of school for our first week- here are some of things Hunter did during his first week of preschool:
I asked Hunter the questions on this All About Me Robot and then he drew a picture of himself and colored the paper.
I also asked Hunter to draw a self-portrait- so this is his drawing of himself.
I put Hunter’s name on his desk and then covered it with contact paper. Every day he uses a dry erase marker to practice writing his name.
This is what it looked like when Hunter wrote his name on the first day of school. I thought it would be fun to take a picture of how it looked on his first attempt so that I can compare it to what it looks like as the year goes on.
The rest of the time spent at preschool this week was just exploring some of the manipulatives that Hunter will be using throughout the year.
This is part of the math program that Hunter is going to use this year and he really loved playing with all of the pieces.
Hunter checked out the letters and the sounds that they make.
Working on a puzzle. It seems like all of Hunter’s puzzles are too easy for him, so I need to start finding some harder puzzles for him to do.
Hunter needed some help snapping these together and they were not his favorite toy of the week. I hope once he figures out that he can do it that he will like them more. I have always loved these 🙂
The math farm set is a definite favorite- Hunter asks to use this every day.
One day while I was working on something with Hailey, Hunter decided that Harper needed some company in her bouncy seat 🙂
