Field Trip Fun
Mar
Recently we went on a field trip with some other homeschoolers to see a presentation at a science museum. Hailey and I had lots of fun (while Hunter had fun with grandma đ ).
We learned what a comet is made of and saw a little demonstration of how they work.
We learned how far apart the planets in our solar system are. Â To try to give the kids an idea of how far apart the planets are, each child represented a different planet and stood in a line a certain distance apart. Â The kids thought it was great that some of them had to go all the way outside.
Hailey with Mars.
Posing with a space shuttle.
Hailey holding a meteorite and I can’t remember what the other rock was called đ Â The meteorite was magnetic, smooth and much heavier than the other rock. Â The other rock looked like it had tiny little holes in it. Â If anyone knows the name of the other rock, please let me know đ
She also made a glow worm
We ended our field trip with the kids checking out some telescopes.
It was lots of fun and we both learned a lot!!

Tot School
Mar
Hunter is 27 months old.
We have been busy having lots of fun in Tot School! Â We had 2 short weeks, with only 3 days of school each week. Â So, this post covers what we did during the last 2 weeks.
Letter M activities:
Hunter glued pom poms onto the M and the monkeys. Â We used this and several other printables from COAH.
Hunter lined up some Unifx cubes on the letter M.
Hunter colored the letter M.
Hunter used water colors to paint this M paper. Â We also used this and several other printables from 1+1+1=1.
He stamped the letter M on this mouse and then glued on some foam Ms.
I’m pretty sure the M&M activities were his favorite đ Â Although he ate most the M &Ms instead of putting them on the paper. Â I gave him a little pile of M&Ms and told him to put them on the M on his paper. Â He said, “I can’t” and then stuffed them right in his mouth hahaha.
He practiced color sorting with the M&Ms.
We made this M is for Mike (or M is for Monster).
We read 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Â Hunter loved this book and has been singing about the monkeys ever since.
I made a Five Little Monkeys lapbook for Hunter.
The inside of the lapbook. Â Hunter loved this!! Â We had so much fun with this lapbook.
Manipulatives:
Hunter worked on his alphabet puzzle.
These rainbow pegs kept Hunter busy for a long time!
Sensory Bins:
I have decided to do a couple of small sensory bins each week with Hunter.
Hunter liked playing with the beads.
The yarn was fun too.
The bean seeds were definitely his favorite.
Hunter loved the sensory bins!! Â They all kept him occupied for a very long time.
(I was closely supervising Hunter during the sensory bin activities as the beads and beans are both choking hazards).
Other stuff:
Hunter had fun in our tunnel.
Stop by 1+1+1=1 to see what the other tots were up to this week.

Expedition Earth- China
Mar
We are absolutely loving the Expedition Earth curriculum we started last month. Â I have gotten a bit behind in my posting, so it’s been a little while since we actually learned about China. Â Here are some of the activities we did while learning about China:
We read several books all about China.
Hailey used Google Translate to find out how to say all kinds of things in Chinese.
We are reading “Children Just Like Me” and Hailey really enjoys this part. Â She loves learning what kids her age are doing in other countries.
Hailey and Hunter decorated some Chinese lanterns.
Showing their completed Chinese lanterns.
They also made Chinese fans.
We also made the Great Wall of China- they started out by painting a foam board.
Then we built our wall.
This project was so much fun!
We finished off our week in China by going out for some Chinese food. Â Hailey did really good using chop sticks!
We are absolutely loving this curriculum. Â It has become our favorite time of the day!!

Fun Farm Days
Mar
Recently we went to a local farm days and had a lot of fun.
Hailey loved petting and feeding the alpacas.
Hunter thought sitting in the tractors was pretty fun. He did pet the alpacas but then didn’t want to touch any of the other animals.
Hailey got to touch a snake!
I love the look on Hailey’s face in this picture.
Iguana
Huge lizard
Holding a baby duck
Hailey with a huge rabbit. It was only half the size it will be as an adult, but it seemed pretty big to us.
Lamb
As we were getting ready to leave, Hunter decided he was brave enough to pet the big bunny.
Once he did it, he wanted to see the other animals he had missed the first time around.
Hailey feeding a 1 week old baby cow. She said it was very strong and was pulling really hard on the bottle.
We had a great time learning about lots of different animals!
