Super Fun Sun

Hunter has been sick again this week so we haven’t done any activities for the last couple days. He’s finally feeling a bit better so we got back to work today 🙂 We are having a lot of fun with our space theme and today we made an awesome sunshine that I found on Pinterest.

sun

Here is what you’ll need: newspaper, black construction paper, cardstock, saran wrap, tape, paint, scissors and glue (not in the picture).

sun2

Cut out a circle on the cardstock and put red, yellow and orange paint on the circle.

Then cover it with saran wrap and tape the saran wrap to the newspaper.

Next, let your child squash and push the paint around.  Hunter loved how it felt and played with it for a long time (with no mess!).

Then put some of the paint on your newspaper and use a q-tip to add a little more paint to make the rays.

The completed sunshines.  I love how these turned out!!

Name Rocket Ship

Our new theme is space… first up we did this super easy and cute name rocket ship.  Guess where I found the idea?  Pinterest of course 🙂

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

You’ll need: glue, glitter glue, sharpie, star stickers, black paper, some other colors of construction paper cut into squares and one triangle.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey put out her pieces into the pattern she wanted and then wrote her name on the squares.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

After your rocket ship is glued on, add some star stickers.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Use the glitter glue to make some flames coming out of the rocket ship.

Hunter’s finished rocket ship.

Tot School

Tot School

Hunter is 16 months old.

We had another fun week!  We are still focusing on the color yellow and Earth Day.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We dyed some rice yellow.  I used food coloring mixed with a little vinegar and mixed it up in a ziploc bag with some help from Hunter.  The rice looked mostly orange though and I didn’t have enough to cover all of the rice:-(  I added some yellow water color and that turned the rest of the rice yellow.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We ended up with an interesting colorful mixture.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

I decided that rice is an outdoor activity so Hunter enjoyed playing with it on the deck.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We also made a yellow discovery bottle.  You can’t really tell from the picture, but there’s lots of stuff in there- and as long as it makes noise Hunter loves it.  So I made sure we included yellow beads so it would rattle when he shook it.  Hunter put everything in the bottle- he did really good putting each piece in, his fine motor skills have improved a lot.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Success- he loved it!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We made a paper plate earth for Earth Day… you can see the whole post here.

flower2

We also made a vase and flowers using recycled materials.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

This was the finished project, mostly done by Hailey but Hunter did help make the flowers.  You can see the whole post here.

Other stuff we did:

It was finally warm enough for Hunter to play in his water table… he loves it!

Hunter does a great job with puzzles and they keep his attention for a long time.

He was a helpful little boy and mowed the lawn for daddy.

He had so much fun playing with bubbles 🙂  I love this picture!

Hunter enjoyed playing in some shaving cream 🙂

Vase and Flowers

Here is cute Earth Day project, that I saw on Pinterest, using recycled materials.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

You’ll need a water bottle, cardboard, bottle tops, pipe cleaner, glue, paint and some tissue paper to for leaves.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey painted the water bottle.  We used acrylic paint which will stay on the plastic very well.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hunter made one of the flowers…

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

He didn’t really want to give up his bottle tops and when he got down to having 2 left he kept saying, “no, no, no, no!” when I showed him where to put the pieces.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey made the other flowers

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

She used pipe cleaner for stems and then added tissue paper for the leaves.
I used a hot glue gun to glue the water bottle to the cardboard.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

 The finished vase and flowers.
