Letter of the Week- Letter R

15
Jun

Our letter this week was the letter R.  I saw this cute idea over at No Time for Flash Cards and knew that Hailey would love it.  So we made a Rainbow R.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper in all of the colors of the rainbow, white paper, glue and another piece of construction paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cut the pieces of construction paper into strips.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Draw the R on the white paper- make sure you can see the marker through the back of the paper.  Put glue all over the R.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the strips of construction paper on.  I showed Hailey how to put the first one on and then I handed her each color after that so she could put them on herself and they would be in the right order.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cover the whole paper with the rainbow pieces of construction paper.  The turn the paper over and cut out the R.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the R onto another piece of construction paper.  We used blue so it would look like the sky.

Our finished Rainbow R.

Hailey is 32 months old.

Tot School

This week we continued learning about the ocean and what lives in the ocean.  Our letter was the letter Q.  Here are some pictures of the fun we had with links to the activities I have posted more detail about.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey loves playing with her bubble maker.   She figured out how to make all of the bubbles stack up on top of each other.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

For our letter Q activity we made this Q is for Quilt.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey caught several caterpillars and all of them have gone into their cocoon phase.  We will have some moths hatching sometime soon so I’m hoping she’ll be able to see it happen.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Some more fun with the bubble maker.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey practiced her cutting.  She does very well!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey had fun making this shark.

We finished up our week by making this whale.

As we continue along in our ocean theme we decided to make a whale today.  It was a very, very simple project that only took a few minutes to do.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: blue construction paper, another shade of blue construction paper cut to be the water, whale shape on gray construction paper, wiggly eye, glue and glitter.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the whale onto the blue construction paper.  Then add the water and the wiggly eye.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Put some glue on to outline the ocean water and to create the water spouting up from the blowhole.  Then sprinkle some glitter on.

We made an easy rainbow fish that turned out really pretty.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper with a fish shape cut out of the middle of it, strips of tissue paper, glue and a wiggly eye.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Put glue all over the back of the construction paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Then add strips of tissue paper to cover the entire fish cut out.  I only had to show Hailey one time that the strips needed to be put on vertically and she did the rest.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Add a few pieces of tissue paper for a tail.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

The finished rainbow fish.
