Coffee Filter Earth
Apr
Since Earth Day will be here soon I went to my Pinterest Earth Day board and looked for some inspiration.
This one is super simple- you just need coffee filters, blue and green washable markers, and a spray bottle with water in it.
Color the coffee filter with the markers. It really doesn’t matter how you do it. Hunter just scribbled all over his.
Hailey drew some shapes and colored them in.
When you’re done coloring, spray the coffee filter with water and watch the color spread. (This is why your markers need to be washable, so that the colors will mix.)

Hot Glue Painting
Apr
This was an easy painting idea that Hailey and Hunter both enjoyed.
First I wrote Hunter’s name on a piece of cardboard using a hot glue gun. It didn’t turn out super cute looking, but it worked for doing some just-for-fun painting. Hunter liked feeling his name.
Since Hunter is learning the color yellow, I gave him some yellow paint and a sponge brush and let him paint.
I would add just a tiny bit of paint to the bowl and he would paint with it. This kept his attention for a very long time.
When Hailey saw Hunter’s finished art work she wanted to make one too.

Spring Painting
Apr
I saw this super cute painting on Pinterest and I knew I wanted to do it with Hailey!
First Hailey drew a spring picture using oil pastels.
I told her to purposely not fill every spot in, to leave some white spots.
When she was done she painted over it using water colors. The oil pastels resist the water and it turns out so pretty!

I had to make one too 🙂
Rainsticks
Apr
Since spring is here (on the calendar anyway) we made some rainsticks today. I figured if it’s going to rain we might as well make a craft about it. And really, I would take the rain over the snow!
Hailey and Hunter decorated paper towel tubes with stickers.
I cut out circles from construction paper to put over the ends. We covered one end with the paper, secured it with a rubber band and then wrapped yarn around it to cover up the rubber band. Then we put cheerios inside the tube and covered the other end.
