Tot School
Apr
Hunter is 16 months old.
We had another fun week! We are still focusing on the color yellow and Earth Day.
We dyed some rice yellow. I used food coloring mixed with a little vinegar and mixed it up in a ziploc bag with some help from Hunter. The rice looked mostly orange though and I didn’t have enough to cover all of the rice:-( I added some yellow water color and that turned the rest of the rice yellow.
We ended up with an interesting colorful mixture.
I decided that rice is an outdoor activity so Hunter enjoyed playing with it on the deck.
We also made a yellow discovery bottle. You can’t really tell from the picture, but there’s lots of stuff in there- and as long as it makes noise Hunter loves it. So I made sure we included yellow beads so it would rattle when he shook it. Hunter put everything in the bottle- he did really good putting each piece in, his fine motor skills have improved a lot.
Success- he loved it!
We made a paper plate earth for Earth Day… you can see the whole post here.
We also made a vase and flowers using recycled materials.
This was the finished project, mostly done by Hailey but Hunter did help make the flowers. You can see the whole post here.
Check out my Earth Day Pinterest board for more ideas for Earth Day.
Other stuff we did:
It was finally warm enough for Hunter to play in his water table… he loves it!
Hunter does a great job with puzzles and they keep his attention for a long time.
He was a helpful little boy and mowed the lawn for daddy.
He had so much fun playing with bubbles 🙂 I love this picture!
Hunter enjoyed playing in some shaving cream 🙂

Tot School
Apr
Hunter is 15 1/2 months old.
It was another fun week at Tot School this week. We are still working on the color yellow and we started some Earth Day activities too.
The weather started out beautiful at the beginning of the week. Since that doesn’t usually last long where we live, we got outside and enjoyed it.
Hunter enjoyed painting with water. He had a little bowl with water in it and he would work to use all of his water up and then bring me the bowl and ask for more. He did this for a very long time, several times.
He stopped for a minute to check the back yard for Hailey.
Hunter used the yellow do-a-dot marker to make a picture.
Hailey was busy writing her spelling words outside using chalk and Hunter wanted to join in. So, he colored outside with yellow chalk.
I wrote Hunter’s name on a piece of cardboard using my hot glue gun. Then Hunter painted it yellow.
Hunter loved feeling his name! You can see the full post about this here.
We just started doing Earth Day activities, so I only have one to share today. This was a very easy one- color a coffee filter with washable green and blue markers (they must be washable for it to work) and then spray it with a mist of water.

Hot Glue Painting
Apr
This was an easy painting idea that Hailey and Hunter both enjoyed.
First I wrote Hunter’s name on a piece of cardboard using a hot glue gun. It didn’t turn out super cute looking, but it worked for doing some just-for-fun painting. Hunter liked feeling his name.
Since Hunter is learning the color yellow, I gave him some yellow paint and a sponge brush and let him paint.
I would add just a tiny bit of paint to the bowl and he would paint with it. This kept his attention for a very long time.
When Hailey saw Hunter’s finished art work she wanted to make one too.

Tot School
Apr
Hunter is 15 1/2 months old.
I’m a little late in getting my Tot School post up… we were out of town all weekend for my cousin’s wedding (it was beautiful!) and since we have been home my blog has not been loading, or has been loading so slow that I couldn’t actually do anything. So, hopefully it’s working now.
Our theme this week was yellow.
Hunter checking out his new yellow sensory bin.
He read his book about colors.
Hailey helped Hunter make a Yellow Sunshine suncatcher for our color window.

Hunter also played with yellow play-doh. I had hoped if he had his pacifier in his mouth that he would not try to eat the play-doh… but he still ate it. So maybe we will wait a while before we do play-doh again.
He colored with a yellow crayon.
Hunter also made a rainstick (see the full post here).
