Paper Strip Easter Egg

25
Mar

We made these super simple but very cute Easter Eggs (idea from Pinterest)!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We used glue, one piece of paper and one piece of card stock.  I cut an egg shape out of the card stock and drew an egg shape onto the paper.  Then I cut up some strips of Easter themed scrapbook paper.

Tot School

Hunter is 15 months old

Our focus this week was still on the color green and our theme was Easter.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

I made this little box using a shoe box- I just cut some holes and added the colored tape just to make the holes stand out a little bit.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Then I gave Hunter some items to put into the holes- this kept his attention for a pretty long time.

 Our Crafts ~N~ Things

I cut up paper towel tubes and put them into a muffin tin and put it down on the floor (idea from Pinterest).  Hunter went over to it and sat by it, but didn’t know what to think of it.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Once I started taking some out he joined in and took them out and put them back in.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

He tried really hard to put the tube back together.  This only kept his attention for a short time.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hunter practiced coloring with a green crayon.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

He liked making it roll, he thought that was fun.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We made this adorable little green frog (see full post here).

After doing lots of practicing the color green, I think Hunter gets it.  On Saturday I asked him to give me a green toy- he went and looked through his toys and found a green toy for me.  Then I had him do it again, giving a green toy to Hailey and then one to Rich.  I was so excited!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We also made this really cute Easter Eggs (that I found on Pinterest) using strips of scrap paper.  (See the full post here.)

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

This is Hunter’s completed egg, he put the strips down just how he wanted.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We also made Easter Eggs by putting painters tape onto a piece of paper…

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Then Hunter colored it with wet chalk (idea from Pinterest).  When we took the tape off it made a really cute design.  (See full post here.)

Stop by 1+1+1=1 to see what the other tots were up to this week.

I just started a Facebook and a Pinterest page, so be sure to stop by and follow me.

Little Green Frog

Mar

Hunter has been learning the color green this month, so when I saw this adorable frog craft at Step into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons I just had to make it with Hailey and Hunter.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

First up you’ll need some construction paper, glue, a sharpie and a pencil.  (The pencil is really just to wrap the red paper around, which will later be used for the frog’s tongue.)

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey glued the frog shape onto her paper and then added the paper for where the eyes would go.  We used a little bit lighter shade of green for where his eyes would go.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey used a sharpie to color black circles on the white paper for the actual eyeballs and then glued them into place.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey drew a mouth and added the tongue and bow.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hunter’s frog, same thing minus the bow.

I think they turned out super cute!

We have also been singing The Little Green Frog:

Mmm mmm went the little green frog one day
Mmm mmm went the little green frog
Mmm mmm went the little green frog one day
And they all went mmm mmm ahhh!!

But we all know frogs go ladedadeda
ladedadeda ladedadeda
We all know frogs go ladedadeda
ladedadeda ladedadeda
They don’t go mmm mmm ahh.

Hailey and Hunter both love this song!!

Oranizing the Craft Closet

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

This is my craft/art project supply closet.  I really hate this closet- it is up much too high and it is really deep.  The bottom shelf is at my eye level and is pretty much the only shelf I can comfortably reach.  The shelves are really deep, so there is no way I can reach anything at the back of the shelves, even if they are on the bottom.  Plus that wooden beam in the middle is always getting in my way.  We have lived here for almost 4 years and I have re-organized this closet so many times, but it always gets messy again because it is so hard to put things away.  This is my newest organization- everything is in a bin and everything is labeled.  I am really hoping this helps!

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here is a closer look at the left side- the top shelf has bins that relate to themes I use at certain times of the year- they are organized by months- September-November, December- February, etc.  Since I practically need a ladder to get things down off this shelf it is best to keep those bins up there.  When I am using one I will keep it in the open space on the bottom shelf.  The middle shelf and bottom shelf have different items we use for art projects.  As long as I force myself to put things away as soon as we are done using them then I think this will work.  Right now there is a lot of wasted space behind the bins, but since I can’t reach anything back there I am just leaving it empty.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here is a closer look at the right side.  Again- the bins on the top aren’t used very often.  The other shelves have bins with pull out drawers full of craft supplies.

I am hoping I can keep this organized, right now I can find everything I need and that is a wonderful thing!

Also, I’ve been invited to try Time4Learning for one month in exchange for a candid review. This online curriculum can be useful for those wanting homeschool materials or for those seeking help with topics such as homeschool record keeping. Find out how to write your own review.  So, you will be seeing me doing some posts about that as well 🙂
