A Little Backyard Lesson

The other day as Rich was clearing our yard getting ready to mow he found this cute little toad.  And Hailey was just thrilled to see a real live toad.

The cute little toad.

Hailey got a little bit brave and tried to feed the toad a piece of grass.

Then we put the toad in some water.  This left quite an impression on Hailey as she is still talking about the toad going swimming more than a week after it happened.

One last touch which brought on lots of giggles.

Then we let the toad go so he could find his mommy, which also left quite an impression on Hailey as she
has also talked quite a bit about the toad going to find his mommy.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. My kids also love catching things. I have had a tadpole in a fishbowl for the past five weeks. The boys are having a ball watching him grow.

My children love to hunt for lizards at our house. We have a hard time catching them. It is great when they can play with them for a while.

That’s too cute! I just don’t see toads around here like we used to find them growing up back home.

  4. It is a wonderful thing to see the world anew through the eyes of a child. Thanks for sharing the wonder.

I LOVE how little things make such big impressions! Your frog puppet is very cute, too! I am looking for paper bags so we can do some of the puppet ideas . . .

  7. Nice that they can learn not to be afraid to touch bugs and toads. My neice had a huge june bug in her bug jar and she loved watching it fly around in there. At night all bugs are free at bedtime though. 🙂
