Tot School
Hunter is 14.5 months old
We missed a week of Tot School because Hunter was sick 🙁 He had a cold that turned into an ear infection and he was just miserable. So, we took it easy for a week. We were back to work this week though and had a fun week.
Our theme was transportation and we were still focusing on the color red.
Hunter worked on a transportation puzzle. When he put the piece in the correct spot he got to hear the sound that the vehicle mades. He loved it!
He had to stop working for a minute to suck on his toe 😉
Hunter also has this toy, when he matches up the vehicle it makes the sound of the vehicle. He usually needs help matching them up, but he gets so excited when he hears the sound.
We also read some books about transportation. This is one of his Lego books, where we can look at the pictures and build the vehicles.
The airplane and the car we made with Legos.
Hunter also tried out the train he got for Christmas.
He’s still not quite ready for it 🙂 He prefers to just take it apart.
Hunter loved this parking garage. He had a lot of fun with all of his vehicles on the ramp.
Hailey wanted to make a picture using a car too. You can see Hunter in the background eating the paint off of his car.
Hunter used the d0-a-dot markers for the first time. He LOVED it!! He was not happy when it was time to put it away.
Sorting some yogurt melts into an ice cube tray.
Hailey and Hunter made these in celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
Stop by 1+1+1=1 to see what the other tots have been up to this week.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

Hailey and Hunter made this cute Thing 1 and Thing 2 craft that I saw at Seusstastic Classroom.

Hailey did this printable I also found at Seusstastic Classroom. She wrote, “I would tell the to please cause trouble.” She said she would tell them that because they always do the opposite.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss 🙂

Count the Stars
Earlier this week we did a test run of what a homeschooling day would be like since we are considering homeschooling next year. We had a Bible story as part of our day. Since Hailey has been learning about Abraham at church I decided to do a lesson about that. We read the story about when God told Abraham to count the stars and that would be how many descendants he would have. Hailey did a really simple craft to go with the story.
First Hailey colored stars all over her paper using a crayon. I wanted her to use a white crayon but she insisted on using yellow.
Then she painted with black water color all over the page to represent the night sky. It turned out cute!

Clouds
Back in July Hailey was working on a science journal. She had wanted to do school all summer long, but then soon after this activity she decided she needed some time off and we never came back and finished our study of clouds. Here is what we did back in July:

Hailey filled out her Observing Nature sheet and she took some pictures of the clouds in the sky.
We read this book about clouds.
Then she cut out some pieces to make a poster about the water cycle.
It turned out so cute! (Printables found at The First Grade Parade.)
Then yesterday while Hailey was off of school (and wanted to do a day of homeschooling to see what it would be like) we did this science experiment:
Cut a 2 liter bottle in half. Put warm water in the bottom, we added blue food coloring to pretend it was the ocean, but that is not necessary. In the top of the bottle add ice, then put the top of the bottle into the bottom of the bottle as pictured. After a little while condensation will start to build up and later on in the day we had enough condensation that it actually “rained” a little bit.
