Easter Wreath
I saw this adorable Easter Egg wreath that Jennifer made with her kids a little while ago. And I thought it was soooo cute. But I thought Hailey might be a little young to try it. Then I saw Andrea do it on her blog too- and her son is only a little older than Hailey, so I decided to go ahead and try it.
It was very simple and probably appropriate for any age child.
All you need is paper plate or a large piece of card stock, construction paper, scissors, and glue.
Cut out the center of the paper plate or the card stock (which is what I used because I was out of paper plates). Cut egg shapes out of different colored construction paper. Then let the kids decorate the eggs with crayons, markers and stickers.
Of course I had to cut the “eggs” out (I think age 3 is probably the right time to start allowing children to try out scissors on their own). But, Hailey did the coloring and even the gluing herself. While we were working on this acitivity I made sure to talk about the oval shape of the eggs as well as the circle shape of the wreath. I also made note of the colors of the eggs and the colors of the crayons Hailey was using. She LOVED it and cried when we were all done. So, here are some pictures of the fun.

Hailey was so proud when she saw her Easter Egg wreath hanging up.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Okay, so this is not exactly a craft, but it was fun none-the-less. We went to a St. Patrick’s Day party that was put on by one of the playgroups we are a part of. The kids played and had a blast.
The project we did was coloring. This was the first time Hailey ever used markers and she wasn’t exactly sure what to do with them. She did enjoy coloring her picture though.

Coloring is a great activity for a toddler to do. It helps with the development of their fine motor control, teaches cause and effect, and of course teaches colors. I try to make sure we color together several times a week.

What's This? Another Blog?
Yup! I’m starting another blog. Yes, I already have several blogs, but it’s so much fun that I just have to start another one.
Now that Hailey is old enough to really enjoy crafts and art activities I want to start keeping track of all of the fun and crafty things we do together. That will be the main focus of this blog. I am certainly not claiming to be an expert on toddler crafts or activities~ but I did work with toddlers for several years in day care and I have taught pre-kindergarten as well. I have tons of books with lots of fabulous ideas. And of course, the Internet is a great resource of information. So, while some of the ideas will be my own creations, for the most part I will probably use things I find in my books, magazines and on the Internet.
In addition to that I am going to blog about the crafty things that I do. Although there won’t be much of that. I do love to scrapbook and cross stitch but I don’t have a lot of time for it. When I do occasionally have time to work on those things I am going to blog about them.
The third thing I plan to use this blog for is a place to keep track of my recipes. Cooking is not exactly my strong point but I am working on that. It’s not so much that I don’t like to cook as it is that I don’t like to clean up the mess. I need to be more organized with my meal planning to make sure I am creating healthy meals for my family and not just something that is thrown together at the last minute.
So, there ya have it. My plan for my newest blog.
