Christmas Tree Craft
December 15th, 2008
See? I promised I would post a Christmas craft today- and I’m doing it! Woo Hoo!! I have several cute projects planned to do with Hailey this week, so be sure to check back!
First up- an easy and cute Christmas tree.

Here’s what you’ll need: a piece of blue construction paper, 3 green triangles- small, medium and large, a small brown rectangle, glue, glitter glue, sequence (and whatever else you want to use to decorate your tree).

Glue the triangles and the rectangle onto the blue paper to make a Christmas tree.

Glue the sequence on the tree.

Add some glitter glue (or just regular glitter if you don’t mind the mess).

The finished Christmas tree.
Today when we were making this Christmas tree I told Hailey I was so happy that she was making good choices and not eating the glue (Hailey’s glue eating had gotten so bad that I just stopped doing projects with her because she would only eat the glue and not do any of the art project.) She replied, “But my IS eating the glue.”
Oh well. At least she was honest about it.

Number, Shape and Color Activities
November 5th, 2008
Last week we worked on the number 4, the color orange and the triangle. Here are some of our activities:

Hailey painted a number 4- you’ll need construction paper with the number 4 on it, another piece of construction paper in a different color, paint and something to paint with- we used the bow.

Hailey stamping the paint onto the 4.

The finished number 4.
For our orange project:

You’ll need orange tissue paper, a small piece of green tissue paper, glue and a paper plate.

Rip apart the orange tissue paper. (Great for those little muscles in their hands!)

Glue the orange tissue paper on to the plate and add a green stem. Now you have a pumpkin.
For our triangle activity:

You’ll need: paint, a sponge, a paper plate and a piece of paper.

Stamp the triangle sponge onto the paper. Fun, fun!
Stop back tomorrow to see our Noah activities from last week.
Please also take a second to stop by the Velveeta Casserole Challenge and vote for me (I’m the one on the right- Livin’ With Me and the Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole). You can vote once each day and I’d appreciate it so very much if you’d vote for me. Thanks!

Orange and Triangles
October 29th, 2008
Again this week our color is orange and our shape is the triangle. Here are the activities we did:

Sponge painting- you’ll need: paper, pumpkin shaped sponge (I did my best but Hailey thought it was an apple.), orange paint and paper.

Hailey enjoying painting with the pumpkin sponge.
And for our triangle activity:

Since our shape last month was the circle, I decided to use a circle in this activity. I put a large triangle and a large circle on this piece of paper. Then I cut out a bunch of small circles and triangles.

Then I had Hailey put the small circles on the big circle and small triangles on the big triangle.

Once she understood what we were doing, we added some glue and she glued the pieces on the right places. This is also a great activity for practicing colors.

Orange, Triangles and the Number Three
October 23rd, 2008
Our color this month is orange and our shape is the triangle. Here is one of the crafts we did to reinforce this information.

Here’s what you’ll need: orange paint, paper plate, something to paint with, black and green paper.

Paint the plate orange.
Cut out some black triangles and a green stem for your child. Or if your child is older you should have your child do the cutting.

Once the paint is dry, glue on the stem and triangles. I did not tell Hailey where to put the triangles for this project, I simply suggested where they could go if she wanted them to be eyes, nose, mouth, etc. She picked where to put them though.

The finished pumpkin.
Our number this month is the number 3 and here is the craft we did last week for that.

Here’s what you’ll need: a large number 3, construction paper in a different color, paint, paper plate, and some fun paint rollers. (Hailey got those paint rollers for her birthday, aren’t they cute!!)

Put some paint on the roller and paint the number 3.

I cut out the number 3, glued it to the other paper, added the word “Three” and put three stickers on. I added this to our number wall.

Circle Sponge Painting
October 15th, 2008
I usually have a number, shape and color activity to share but I really slacked because these activities were from the week before Hailey’s birthday and we were getting ready to go out of town. So, I only have one activity to share for a circle project we did.

Here’s what you’ll need: paint, paper, sponge cut like a circle and a paper plate.

Dip the circle sponge into the paint and stamp onto the paper. I always spread the paint really thin on the paper plate as the prints work better this way.

Hailey has her eyes closed eating the paint because she thinks I can not see her when she closes her eyes.
