Tot School
Apr
Hunter is 27 months old.
We’ve had a kind of crazy 2 weeks with the stomach bug going around our family. It took us 2 weeks to do 1 weeks worth of activities, but we are finally all on the mend and back to normal (I hope).
Letter O Activities:
I used several printables from 1+1+1=1. Hunter always starts out by coloring his letter of the week paper. Some weeks he puts a few scribbles on the paper and says he is done. Other times he spends a very long time coloring every part of the paper.
He tried his first lacing activity, and he did pretty well (with some help).
Putting together the letter O puzzle
Pointing out an O on the ostrich.
Hunter glued foam letter Os onto the ostrich.
We made an O is for Octopus. Hunter spent a while using his do-a-dot markers to decorate the O.
The finished octopus.
After we sang the alphabet I asked Hunter to point to the letter O on his ABC board. I expected him to (possibly) find the O flashcard. Instead he pointed to an O on the boarder. I was excited that he really recognized the letter O.
Manipulatives:
Hunter is just loving his blocks lately!
Working on a puzzle.
More building with the blocks.
Practicing his cutting with playdough.
Sensory bin:
The only sensory bin we did this week was with foam letters.
Other:
Painting with water colors… maybe all the other moms already know this, but I found a great way to do water colors with a toddler. Before Hunter started painting, I took an eye dropper and dropped a few little drops of water into each color. After a few minutes, the paint was all ready to use without Hunter having to remember to dip his brush in the water before the paint.
Stop by 1+1+1=1 to see what the other tots were up to this week.

A Look Back at 2013
Dec
I can’t believe it’s been a year- but last January I started Tot School with Hunter. It’s been a fun year and Hunter has grown and changed so much!
In February, Hailey made this super cute “Bee Mine” Valentine.
I love how this Empty Tomb craft turned out to go along with the Easter activities we did.
These Super Fun Suns were a great project!! No mess was involved and they turned out great!
In May we worked on a Dinosaur Unit, we learned lots and had so much fun.
In June we made these adorable handprints as a gift for Father’s Day. This activity is one of my posted pinned crafts.
We made these Popsicle Stick Fish during our ocean unit.
In August we set up our classroom for our first year of homeschooling.
In September we had a lot of fun learning about apples during Tot School.
We did some fun Columbus Day Activities during October.
During our Thanksgiving Unit we made this Mayflower, which Hailey and Hunter absolutely loved!
We had a Polar Express theme during December and Hailey drew a Polar Express Train, which turned out fantastic!
We had a really fun 2013 and we’re excited to see what 2014 will bring!

Polar Express Party
Dec
Last week was full of fun preparations for Christmas! Thursday and Friday were all about The Polar Express.
I used painter’s tape to make a railroad track on the floor. We used some cardboard boxes from some of my online shopping to build a train.
Hunter and Hailey sitting in the train.
Thursday we did a variety of learning activities after we read The Polar Express. We finished up all of our work so that Friday could just be a party day 🙂
For art on Thursday we made these great trains.
On Friday we went to school in our pajamas 🙂
We started out the day with some fun activities.
Hunter and Hailey made some snow globes.
Hailey decided to make her snowman look like Olaf from Frozen. They turned out cute.
Then they made a little graham cracker train.
It only lasted a few minutes before they started eating it 🙂
Then it was movie time! Hunter and Hailey took their seats in our train.
I punched their tickets
They also had little jingle bells, which we could all hear 😉
Then I passed out hot chocolate and popcorn while they watched the movie. It was a super fun day!
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!

Bee Crafty Kids- Polar Express Crafts
Dec
Welcome back to the Bee Crafty Kids link up that I am co-hosting with To The Moon and Back and Look! We’re Learning.
We had a great time making some Polar Express trains this week.
Hunter made a train using different shapes. He also sprinkled glitter on his paper. While that was not exactly planned (ha!) it looked like falling snow.
Hunter’s finished train.
Hailey used oil pastels to draw a train.
She colored it in using Christmas colors.
Hailey’s finished train. She also sprinkled glitter on her paper to look like snow. She didn’t use glue, she just sprinkled it on and it looks great.
