Letter of the Week- Letter Y
September 7th, 2009

We are almost done with the alphabet!!  I can’t believe it has taken us a year to get through 26 letters.  That whole moving thing really put us behind.  Anyhoo- this week we did the letter Y- and used an idea I saw over at No Time for Flashcards.  We made a Y for Yellow.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

You’ll need paper, glue and as many yellow things as you can find.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Color the letter Y with crayons, markers and colored pencils.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue on lots of yellow things- we used pipe cleaner, pom poms, torn up paper, torn up tissue paper, feathers, and some yellow foam.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cover up the Y and let the glue dry.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Our completed Y is for Yellow.

Letter of the Week- Letter X
August 31st, 2009

We are almost done with the alphabet!  We aren’t doing a lot of crafts as we are busy enjoying the little bit of summer that is left.  We are going on vacation in a couple of weeks and when we get back we’re going to get back into our routine of doing more crafts and learning activities.

Anyhoo- this week I showed Hailey 2 choices for the letter X over at No Time for Flashcards and she wanted to make the “X is for X-Ray” choice.  We did ours a little bit differently, but we got our idea from there.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper- black and white, scissors, crayons, glue and saran wrap.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cut out two bones and a boarder.  If your child is a bit older you can have your child help with the cutting.  Since Hailey is almost 3 she is going to start doing a lot more cutting for our projects.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Color the black paper- we used white and silver.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the bones on to look like an X.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Take a piece of saran wrap and lay it on the table, stretched out nice and flat.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Put the black paper face down on the saran wrap and then tape the extra to the back of the black paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Flip it over and glue on the boarder.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

The finished X is for X-ray.

Letter of the Week- Letter W
August 25th, 2009

Finally!  We’re back with a new craft!!  Yay!!  We’ve been busy getting settled into our new house and enjoying summer. It will probably be a while before I get back to posting every day because we’ve been spending a lot of time playing outside and enjoying the nice weather.  So for now I’ll just post a little bit until we get back into doing more activities this fall.

Since I want to finish the alphabet before fall comes- we did this cute W craft that I found over at No Time for Flashcards.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: construction paper- green, pink and yellow, green marker and crayon, glue and watermelon seeds.  If you don’t have watermelon seeds you can just cut some small black ovals for the seeds.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cut out 2 Ws.  Make the pink W a bit smaller than the green one.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Have your child color the green W with the green marker and crayon.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the green W onto the yellow paper and then glue the pink W on top of the green one.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Add some seeds to the W.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

The finished “W is for Watermelon.”
