Fall Tree Craft
Oct
Welcome back to the Bee Crafty Kids link up that I am co-hosting with To The Moon and Back and Look! We’re Learning.
We have been doing a mini leaf unit and have had some fun art projects along with it. Here is one that I think turned out really cute:
First Hailey and Hunter glued a tree that I cut out onto some construction paper.
Then, using leaves we had just collected from our backyard, they painted leaves onto their trees.
They both really enjoyed painting with leaves.
The finished fall tree craft.

Fall Tree Handprint Craft
Oct
This was a simple and cute fall craft that Hailey and Hunter both enjoyed.
First I traced their hand and arm. Then they colored it brown to look like a tree.
Then they added torn up tissue paper for leaves and grass.
Very simple and cute.

Columbus Day Activities
Oct
We did a little one day mini unit about Columbus Day and what it is all about. We started out by watching a video about Columbus on BrainPOP. We also played a game and took the quiz on BrainPOP.
Then we made a mini book that I found at Royal Baloo and a couple other free printables from the Columbus Unit she created.
After we finished talking about Columbus and what he did, we made a map to show where he went, using an idea I saw at 2nd Grade Shenanigans.
I drew this (I am clearly not an artist!) on a paper bag and then Rich burned the edges for me to make it look like an old map.
Hailey and Hunter painted their maps.
Completed maps
Hailey and Hunter gluing together a boat for Columbus Day, using an idea I saw at A Cupcake for the Teacher.
Completed Columbus boats. Hailey drew a picture of Columbus in one of the windows on her boat.

Apple Lapbook
Oct
We are working on a fall unit study that we started back in September. We just finished up a fun mini-apple unit that is part of our fall study.
We are using a 1/2 inch binder for our fall unit study.
Then there are tabs for each of our mini-units that will be included. Hailey keeps all of her papers about each unit in the correct section of her binder.
At the end of our apple unit Hailey put together an Apple Lapbook.
Here is the inside of her lapbook.
