The Farm

We decided to make a little farm to go along with our farm theme this week.

I took several containers of playdough and spread them out on a tray.  The one green doesn’t quite match the others… so let’s just pretend the grass on the farm isn’t quite perfect.  And Hailey decided the farm needed a little pond- so we added some blue.

We made a fence using little popsicle sticks and stuck them together using playdough.  Then we added some farm animals.

Hailey played with this for a looooong time!

How sweet is this project. Good for the imagination. I will be taking the g’kids to the zoo later this month for farm babies and I think this would be a very good follow up activity. Where did you get your little plastic animals? I bet the zoo will be selling some.

  2. I love it! I love all small worlds and the imaginative play they produce is usually far better than any other! Thanks for linking this up to It’s Playtime! It will great for others to discover your great blog too!

Jackie- I got them at either Michael’s or AC Moore- can’t remember which one it was. But they had a section of all different varieties of little animals.

  5. Fun stuff!! My son loves all things farm- even though he is getting older, he still loves to play with farm animal figures.

In response to your comment on “Keeping it Simple”- Legos are great for girls too! My dd (now 24yo) loved them when she was little. She did not have the same level of passion as my boys do now, but they were a great source of enjoyment for her. Plus, they have some really cool “girl” sets now!

I love your blog- you do some great things your daughter. 🙂

Thank you SO MUCH for this idea! I’ve been getting so completely bored with playdoh. All we do is make fields so we can drive through them… I cannot wait to make it something else.

The lighter green is just a different pasture 🙂 No worries 😛

Thanks for linking up to It’s Playtime this week, I hope to see more of your ideas next Thursday too!

What a fun idea! Unfortunately, our playdough is always mixed up and our trays are all used up with legos! 🙂
