Frequently Asked Questions
I always think that it is interesting when someone leaves me a comment or sends me an email asking me a question. When I look at other people’s blogs I always think that all the other moms know so much more than me. So every time someone asks me a question it amuses me, just a little bit, that people actually think I know something!
Anyhoo- here are some of questions I get asked frequently:
1. How old was Hailey when you first started doing crafts with her?
- I started doing some very simple crafts with Hailey when she was around 17 months old. We only did them once in a while at first. She started to really enjoy doing crafts and asking to do them a couple of months later and now we do at least one craft every day.
2. Where do you get your ideas?
- Many of my ideas are my own. I also do a lot of searching on the Internet for ideas. And I have books that are filled with ideas from when I was teaching. You can see some of my favorite sites and books by visiting my resources page.
3. Where did you get…
- I get a lot of questions about where I found certain supplies. If you email me or leave me a comment about a specific item I will answer you and let you know where I bought it from. For the most part I get most of our supplies at Target or at Michaels.
4. What do you do with all of the finished crafts? How do you store everything?
- Honestly- many of our crafts get thrown away. Since we do at least one craft everyday it is just not possible to keep all of them. Crafts about our current theme get hung up in Hailey’s playroom. Our letter of the week crafts have a special place on the fridge where they stay all week. Once we are done with a certain theme I might pick a couple special crafts to save. But, for the most part I have to throw a lot away.
5. What curriculum do you use?
- I don’t technically have a curriculum. I have one that I have made up on my own. I have the entire year planned out so that I can make sure I cover all of the information I want to cover.
6. Do you do lesson plans?
- Yes, I create a weekly lesson plan. I do it to make sure I am covering everything I want to cover. It also helps me if I can plan ahead so that I know what I need to get at the store for our projects as well as books to get from the library. Someday when I figure out how PDF stuff works, I will add a section to share my curriculum outline and my lesson plans.
If you ever have a question you would like answered you can email me or just leave me a comment on a post and I will answer your question.
