Wheel Painting
February 18th, 2009

Our theme this week is transportation and we did a really simple craft today.  Hailey loves these kinds of activities.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: paint, paper plates, construction paper and cars (or anything with wheels).

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Dip the wheels into the paint and drive the car on your paper.  Hailey was thrilled with the result!
( This will work best if you spread the paint nice and thin on your paper plate.)

Add another color.

Heart Sponge Painting
February 10th, 2009

This craft is so simple, but definitely one of Hailey’s favorite things to do.  While she does love our activities that are more directed by me, she really loves when she can just do whatever she wants.  I try to remember to do a lot of crafts where she can just be creative and we don’t have to worry about following directions.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: paper, paint, a heart shaped sponge and a paper plate.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Spread the paint thinly on the paper plate and enjoy sponge painting.

The Mitten
February 3rd, 2009

One of my favorite books for winter time is “The Mitten” by Jan Brett.  So, we did this activity to go along with the book.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here’s what you’ll need: 2 pieces of construction paper, some paint and something to paint with, contact paper and not pictured- scissors and a stapler.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

You’ll also need the animals from the story.  I printed these animals back when I used to get the Mailbox Etc magazine.  But you can find some very similar printable animals here.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Paint the construction paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cut out two mitten shapes.  You’ll need the contact paper in a minute… so it shouldn’t really been in this picture.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Staple the two pieces of mitten together.  Be sure to leave the bottom of the mitten open.  Then cover with contact paper to make it last longer.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Get “The Mitten” by Jan Brett, the mitten and your animals.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Read the story together and put the animals into the mitten as you come to that part of the story.
