Dot the Dalmatian

16
Oct

One of the books we read last week for our Fire Safety theme had a dalmatian in it named Dot.  So, Hailey decided that she wanted to make Dot the Dalmatian.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

You’ll need: red and black construction paper, google eyes, glue and a paper bowl.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Cut out a tongue, ears and spots.  I used a 3 hole punch to cut out a bunch of spots for the dog.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the spots onto the bowl.

Add the eyes, ears and tongue.  Then Hailey told me we needed to add a hat just like Dot in the book had.  So, I did my best to make a hat.

Fire Truck

Since last week was Fire Safety Week we did some fire safety art projects.  I had a bunch of them planned but we got busy and ran out of time to do everything.  I do have a couple of ideas to share though.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Put some yellow and red paint on a piece of paper.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Spread and mix the paint using a cotton ball until it looks like fire.  I ended up having to add more yellow to try to get the orange look I was hoping for.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Then cut out some pieces to make a fire truck

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the fire truck together.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Glue the fire truck onto the fire.

Letter of the Week- Letter C

Oct

Our letter last week was the letter C.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We colored the letter C template.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey worked on making a C is for Clock that I found at Homeschool Creations.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Here is our finished Cc is for Clock.  I printed the clock face from here and Hailey cut it out.  We added some hands to the clock.  Then we added a pendulum which is just yarn and construction paper.  Then I cut out a little clock base for her to glue on.

I had a lot of other letter C activities planned for last week but time just got away from us.  We had places to go almost everyday.  Plus last week was Hailey’s 3rd birthday.  So, we just ran out of time to get any other letter C activities done. We did manage to get some of our Fire Safety activities done, so check back to see what we did.

Hailey loved making this Bb is for Bandaid Butterflies.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We have four word cards each week to go along with our letter of the week.  Hailey is practicing her letter B words.

Theme activities:

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We learned about fall and leaves last week.  Hailey loved making several leaf rubbings.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

We made these pretty fall leaves by coloring coffee filters with markers and then spraying them with water.  The colors blend together and make very pretty leaves.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey learned the names of the parts of a tree.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey made a “Where is the Leaf?” book to practice words like under, on, in, behind and over.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey also learned about making patterns.

Color and Shape activities:

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Hailey wanted to why yellow and blue make green.

Our Crafts ~N~ Things

Playing our own version of Twister was a great way to practice colors and to focus on circles.

Stop by 1+1+1=1 to see what the other tots did last week.
